You can set 10to8 to take bookings from a subdomain on your website.
A subdomain is a URL which contains or is similar to your website URL. For example, if your website is called http://www.lakeview-osteopathy.com/, you can have your 10to8 booking page appear on http://bookings.lakeview-osteopathy.com/. You must own the original website URL for this to work.
This is great if:
- You want your clients to book without leaving your website
- You do not want to build your own booking page containing our embedded booking widget (see here)
Getting Set Up
Setting this up is a 2-step process. Firstly, add the subdomain you want to use under "Online Booking" > "Advanced Options" > click “Take bookings from a subdomain”.
Secondly, you need to log into your domain provider and add a CNAME DNS entry to your account with the following details:
Host: [your subdomain booking page] (e.g. bookings.lakeview-osteopathy.com)
Points to: custom-domain.10to8.com
How you do this depends on your domain provider. Here are instructions for GoDaddy, and here are instructions for CloudFlare. If you can not find instructions for your provider, email us at email@example.com and we will try to help.
To check that it has worked, visit your subdomain and you should see your 10to8 booking page. Let us know how you get on!
Unfortunately, there are some things that do not work on a separate subdomain, that do work with our embedded widgets and booking pages:
- Your web page will be served over insecure HTTP instead of HTTPS. This means it is not appropriate for sectors where privacy concerns are very strong.
- You can not take payments via Stripe, since this requires HTTPS instead of HTTP.
